This neighborhood is a quite and safe place, well linked to city center and to airports, with parks and green all around, large streets, markets, supermarkets, banks, and every kind of service.
It's full of shops and restaurants on via Appia Nuova and via Tuscolana. The "Tiramisu' King" Pompi is right off piazza Re di Roma, and there some of the best ice cream shops ("San Crispino", "la gelateria Petrini" and "da Procopio").
The area feels very residential and not a tourist trap; you will be among the locals.
There are many supermakets and a few markets if you will be cooking, the "Via Sannio" market sells mainly clothes and accessories and is covered with stands on the surrounding streets.
the easiest and cheapest way (8euros) is by Fiumicino local train FR1 (Fiumicino stopping train), stop at Roma Tuscolana station, It takes 39 mins. Then 1min walking
by the Leonardo Express train (14euros) to Termini station and then by metro line A, stop at Pontelungo or Re di Roma
by soooo expensive taxi (be carefull! it must be maximum 40euros)
From Ciampino airport:
COTRAL BUS to Anagnina (1.20 euros, every 40mins) and then by metro line A
by COTRAL or SCHIAFFINI bus to Ciampino train station (1euro, every 20mins) then by train to Termini and then by metro line A
by bus to Termini (8euros) and then by metro line A
by Taxi (maximum 30euros)
